Find your fit with a little preparation. Whether you are choosing an everyday outfit or dressing for a special occasion, compare your measurements with the information provided for the individual item.
Start With the Product Details
Size labels can differ between brands and styles. Use the size chart or measurements on the product page where provided, and check the units before comparing. This guide explains how to measure; it is not a universal size chart for every Sterling Mode item.
Check whether the listed measurements describe your body or the garment itself. Do not treat these as interchangeable. If measurements are missing or unclear, contact us before ordering.
How to Measure Your Body
Use a flexible measuring tape over lightweight clothing. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably snug without pulling it tight.
- Bust or chest: Measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape level across your back.
- Waist: Measure around your natural waistline, without holding your breath or tightening the tape.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape level.
- Inseam: Measure along the inside leg from the crotch to your preferred trouser hem. A pair of trousers that fits well can help you compare garment measurements.
Comparing Garment Measurements
If the product lists garment measurements, compare them with a similar item you already own and like the fit of. Follow the measuring method described on the product page. A garment measured flat across the chest is not the same as a full chest circumference.
Dresses, Occasionwear and Tailored Pieces
Compare all relevant measurements rather than choosing by a single size label. Consider the neckline, waist placement, sleeve shape and overall length. For fitted styles, check the bust or chest, waist and hips where those measurements are provided. Review the product's fabric and stretch information rather than assuming a material will stretch.
Footwear
Check the sizing system and any foot-length or fit guidance on the individual footwear listing. Measure both feet while standing and compare the larger measurement with the item's guidance. Do not assume that the same size label fits identically across different styles.
Between Sizes or Unsure?
Consider the fit you prefer and the item's listed measurements. We do not recommend automatically sizing up or down for every product. For help, send the product link, the size you are considering and the measurements you would like us to check.
